Do you believe in Charms, Mojo or Talisman? A relative of mine whom I just meet recently gave me this kind of mojo or whatever they call it. They say it was supposed to ward of evil, hoodoos or witch craft. Here in Mindanao, Southern parts of the Philippines we believed in "pik-pik" which means tapping or touching. It is kind of witch craft or hoodoo that will make you sick or poisoned and even die from it when some one (a witch) touched you. So I always carry it with me. This is tightly sealed, so when a leaking comes out. We believe that a witch is nearby since it reacted. Do you have beliefs in your region or country too?

Voodoo, Mojo, witchcraft etc have all being in existence and were as old as mankind. That anybody doesn't believe in them will not invalidate their existence. In Africa, it is called black magic and very common in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin republic, Kenya and others. There are numerous herbalists and witch doctors serving as oracles to these type of practices.

I believe that because my Aunt was a victim as what we are told. Someone hired a witch to kill her. And where you from, if you don't mind my asking?

@kiran8 You don't have to believed in it, but accepting the gift is the polite thing to do.

You just have to carry it with you, right? Not drink or something?

@sol_cee No I don't drink it, but I would wet my finger with the oil and have a little lick from it if I get so sick despite medication. This is just an oil from coconut, the brown part is a chopped bark from herbal plants.

we do have the similar culture in my country. I always say if you believe, it is existent, if not, then it isn't.

@Behindtheguitarbar Yes you are right, I don't believe too much in them, I still believe science more. Everything that is too much is dangerous.

I have a few of them once before but now I don't want to keep them anymore as it gives no protection.

I do not really personally. Some in my culture may believe in these but its generally not considered to be super mainstream.

I don't know, but I heard some people tell about those things that can ward off sorcery, etc. It looks like there is a figurine at the top of the bottle near the neck? Is it a toy?

@acelawrites No it is not a figurine, it is a type of coral.
