How many people are willing to help the elderly people on Earth? Most younger generation find that old folks are troublesome to care for, too slow pace to follow and a waste of money to invest for, even though he/she is blood related.
I do know there is a hawker stall at a food court that is doing a good deed to elderly people. This stall sells Chinese daily meals such as stir fry veggies, meats and light breakfast for dine in or take-away customers. Now this particular stall sells $1 per plate of meal for elderly folks while customers younger than 70s had to pay the regular price.
I asked the stall owner why did he charged differently for the same meal. He replied that he wanted to help the elderly people since some of them are poor, not being care for by their own adult children. He did a kind deed indeed. News had spread around that more elderly people are coming to his hawker stall for $1 meal daily.
I do hope that more business owners could adapt kind deeds towards the older folks.
What can you do to help the elderly?

I know that we care for our own elderly parents in our family. We have to pay medical caregivers to help with some of their care just because we don't have the medical knowledge and resources needed. But there are several programs here in America that cater to the care of the elderly. My kids have always participated in MEALS ON WHEELS, where a local church or ministry prepare lunches and then others show up, pick up the meals and deliver them to the homes of the elderly. We also had one of those ministries in our church that did a similar thing every Tuesday. Currently, the church I lead, has a ministry for veterans. We put together care packages filled with snacks and cards and items their family notifies us they need and we mail to them every month.
I love hearing these stories and pray God blesses the owner of this business. The government should not have to take care of our people. If the government gets involved, there is always some negative alternative agenda. But if we, as a people, take care of each other, it is done out of love and will bring us closer together. Families should definitely be taking care of each other, but when that doesn't happen, it is great to hear of people who step up and provide.

The example of the stall owner you mentioned is exempIary and here is hoping more of his kind grow ..I agree that old age and old people are treated with contempt by youngsters forgetting that it is part of nature and growth. I have always been respectful of my elders and try my best to help out as and when I can .. What they need more than anything is understanding and care, someone who is willing to spend time with them instead of treating them as a burden.
