Shopping carts in the parking lot.

About every time I would go to WalMart; I would notice that a lot of people would leave their shopping cart all over the parking lot. By people doing this; a WalMart worker now has to go out and gather up all the shopping carts. At all of the WalMarts that I have been to; there would be certain places where you can put the shopping carts. I always take my shopping cart to one of these places. If everybody would take their shopping carts to one of these places; it would be less work for the workers. I have also heard that some people would hit the shopping carts and cause damage to their cars. Do you leave your shopping carts anywhere in the parking lot?

I always take mine to the corral even when snow is on the ground. I had someone I knew tell me that his dad always told him to take a cart out and leave it there even if one wasn't really needed. Supposedly that would ensure people got a job. I think that if people only used what was needed those guys and gals that bring them in could try to get a job in the store instead.

We don't do this. We ourselves feel irritated if people leave in parking lot like that.

You are very considerate. I think some people just think it is much more convenient to carry their stuffs by the shopping cart to their cars. And when I watch the movie, it seems that the people don't have a habit to put the shopping carts back.

Not if there is a cart parking spot anywhere near me, I will walk quite aways but sometimes when I park on the side of the building it isn't really possible.

one thing to help curb the problem would be if the store itself had employees go out more routinely to retrieve the carts. i know a lot of businesses dont send anyone out until they are almost out of carts, but by then, they are all over the parking lot and the return stalls are full.

Good advice. No. I always return my cart back inside the store, and put it right back where I got it.

@Scrapper88 , good thing to do. I learned a long time ago about the importance of keeping the parking lot clean and free of carts because I once worked for Kroger.

Seems like all the Walmarts are having this issue. There is a specific designated spot in the parking lot to leave the carts but people are too lazy to walk just a few extra steps. And then someone leaves a cart elsewhere and others start following that procedure. The Walmart I visit had deputed an employee to actually take carts from people after they load their stuff into their cars. I liked a procedure I saw in Dubai. You insert a 1 dirham coin in a slot of the cart and you can retrieve it only when you leave the Cart at the designated place.

I talked to a guy at Walmart and he told me they walk off with not only shopping carts to take to their apartments but they also ride off with those Amigo-carts, those ones that run off electricity for old folk to ride who can't walk well to shop.

This is something that happens in most shopping mall and I find it unfair to the employees.
