This might be a band you don’t really remember the name to but I think some of the songs they played will come to mind. Orleans is an American pop-rock band that is known for it hits “Dance with Me”, “Still the One” and “Love Takes Time”. Their music was inspired by Louisiana artists like Allen Toussaint and the Neville Brothers. The band was formed in January of 1972 by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter John Hall, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Larry Hoppen and drummer and percussionist Wells Kelly. Then in 1972 to complete the band Larry’s younger brother Lance joined them. At the beginning the band played lots of clubs. However it was finally their third album Let There Be Music which came out in March of 1975 that brought them success and popularity. It included the hits “Let There Be Music” and “Dance with Me”. Working on their next album Walking and Dreaming the band was joined by second drummer Jerry Marotta which allowed Wells Kelly to concentrate more on the keyboard. This album produced the hit “Still the One”. This song has been used in various commercials and movie soundtracks. Any Orleans fans out there? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orleans_(band)
