I was people watching while waiting for my friend and some sayings on T-shirts of guys passing by caught my eye.
One was "Basketball is my girlfriend."
The other one was "Eat, Sleeep, Tennis, Repeat."
Although my siblings and I played around the neighborhood, had required PE subjects from elementary to college, I don't remember anyone engaged in regular physical activity, or taking up any sport seriously and continuously.
None of us represented our schools in a sporting event.
Do you have a family member who excels in sports and joins competitions?
What's it like having an athlete in the house?

I have a cousin who excelled in sports and she always won in a competition.
My son says 'ball is life' these days but he's not really an athlete. He just enjoys playing basketball.

My sister and her family are all very keen sports people. I on the other hand am far too lazy and busy to incorporate that into real life!

ah, but you're a whiz in the kitchen, great at your job, and a keen traveler.

I don't consider myself as an athlete, but I do consider myself as physically active.

My sister used to do rhythmic gymnastics when she was younger, even went abroad for competitions and all. Me? I'd rather spend an hour in the library than playing in the field during PE sessions back in school

Back in the day I always played Volleyball and was on Teams, and my brothers played Basketball and were pretty good. Now it is expensive to do these type of things is why you do not see more people wanting to do this.

I wish I had been a champ in Kung Fu because I did like it when I was much younger than today. No one is an athlete in our family.

My brother was addicted to basket ball but I stop playing when he moved out years ago. I'm not even qualified to play the game because of my condition. But at one point I use to play much of it.

I was basketball varsity. Played in the WNCAA. I ran, I played volleyball and did laps on the pool.
Enrolled my daughters in karatedo. They love swimming.
Sports, at some time in one's life, is a must. If not interested, just walk or dance.

I think if my parents nurtured my athletic side in my childhood, perhaps I may have excelled. But otherwise, joining a sport didn't even occur to me - until later in life (like skating and dancing, as you know). My younger sister was allowed to venture her interests in her childhood more than I did . . . she became a cheerleader in high school and even became mascot of the school in her senior year. She ran in her 20s - stopped - and is now back into running again. My kids do tae kwon do - although they have done competitions, I wouldn't say they excel it in - the sport isn't situated that way at least through our studio. I don't know about excelling, but I do think it's important for kids to take up some type of physical activity.

My boys were very athletic growing up. They were both medal winning swimmers, baseball, football, and wrestling champs. Of course my granddaughter made Regionals in figure skating and my grandson is a goalie for his traveling ice hockey team.
I golf, play racquetball, tennis, and walk. In Florida, I ride my bike,
