Elon Musk wants to send Humans to Mars in 2024 - Would you go?

In his much-anticipated presentation yesterday, Elon Musk outlined SpaceX's grand plan to send a manned mission to Mars in 2024.
My question to you all is, if given the opportunity, would you like to visit "The Red Planet". It would be a long trip, and there would be significant danger, but to be able to say you had set foot on another world would be incredible!
I think I would do this, even if there was only a 50-50 chance of making it home. The chance to make history would be worth it!

I, I wouldn´t. I have discovered that the more I age the more my world shrinks. In this moment I am more interested in my plants and in noticing that my 7 year old granddaughter does not accept plastics than to be part of a mission to throw litter to yet another planet.

You raise an important point. In our rush to explore and learn about the universe, we must be careful to preserve and protect the places we visit.

@SuperMisiu He does. He is too old though. They wouldn't pick him

Does he like adventure?
Maybe the children born today will be the generation that build colonies on other worlds? It's an interesting thought.

I think I'll pass. I haven't even travelled outside of the continental US yet, and there is so much of the world I would like to see

It would be no different than moving to the other side of the world I think? I have friends who have moved to different continents and only visit home every 3-4 years. They keep in touch via Skype and email. I guess the same would be possible from Mars (although with a delay!)
