Hollywood claims that they are about diversity and Equality

Hollywood hates the Republican party accusing it of being Racist, Sexist and other stuff but if they are against discrimination....
Why do they keep casting White actors for originally Asian roles despite of the backlash of Whitewashing from the fans of the source material. 4 movies with Whitewashed characters caused controversies and flopped but they still keep doing it. 4 more White washed Asian roles are going to happen like Akira, Your Name, Ring World and Lazarus.
If they were all about diversity Why they keep giving stereotype roles to People of color. Black guys dying first in horror movies. Latinos playing maids ,gardeners and Asian Males being nerds.
If they keep bashing Trump for being Sexist Why do they pay Male actors more than the female stars? There are even cases when An actress with a better box office record is paid less than an actor with multiple flops.
Also there is a Hollywood Producer who forced a writer to change his protagonist into Male because he thinks women don't draw.
Recently There is a Biopic of Bruce Lee, That movie is about Bruce Lee but a fictional White male have more face time than him on the movie. Producers did that because they think people won't watch if there is no White guy.

They even white-washed the character Rita in the new Power Rangers movie, which I thought was ridiculous. There was no need for it. I haven't heard much about that movie so I'm guessing it probably flopped.
Hollywood likes to claim they are liberal and represent diversity, but their actions obviously don't reflect the image they force down everyone's throats.

3 Actresses played Rita on screen, Machiko Soga who is Japanese, Julia Cortez and Carla Perez who are Both Filipino. I think they hired Elisabeth Banks to get Hunger games fans.
if they want a White Villain, She could have played Toxica instead. Who is White.
Their excuse for White washing Rita is they turned Billy Black and Turned Kimberly Indian. Power Rangers is suppose to be a 6 part movie and it wont be getting a sequel after flopping. I notice most white washing movies are flopping.

@Srbageldog Speaking of Rita, This scene is cut and got censored in the US television about Rita Repulsa have a son and it is the reason why she became evil. this short video is her origin story of sorts.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I didn't bother to see the new movie, I was so irritated that they cast Elisabeth Banks as Rita. Not only did they make her white, they also made her younger and tried to make her sexy.
Swapping the ethnicities of other characters seemed like a lame attempt to prove they were being diverse, when obviously they weren't by casting a white woman as Rita. I'm glad these white-washed movies are flopping.

@LadyDuck I guess when they mean diversity, It means diversity of excuses on why they cast white actors to play Makoto Kusanagi, Son Goku,Juan Rico,Antonio Mendes,Light Yagami and The King of Thailand with White actors.
Also it is ridiculous Jai Courtney and Johnny Depp,Men with multiple critical bomb and box office flop movies are paid higher than actresses with box office winning streaks. They have higher pay than Meryll Streep.

@CaptAlbertWhisker They have never been a symbol of freedom and diversity, just think back in time what happened during the Mccarthyism era. The campaign against the "suspected" communists has been worse than a witch hunt.

Lately the Stereotyping is beyond crazy. Miss the good ole days back before White and Black etc were so different and everyone had to make such a thing about it all.

Stereotyping was worst in the past though. Characters like Long Duck Dong are very offensive. I think TV is more open minded than movies. Many TV shows have women and people of color as leads. In movies it is all about that Brown haired white male on his 30's.

@CaptAlbertWhisker what would you have Scarlett Johansson do? Give up the role?

@allen0187 She should have done what Ed Skrein did to his Role, He accepted a role for a Hellboy movie, Found out the character is Japanese, Gave up the role because he is against White washing and it's damage to society. Now Ed Skrein smells like Roses to the Public.
The positive PR would have landed her more roles and saved her from starring from a box office flop.

I cringe when Scartlett Johansson made a speech about diversity when she stole a role meant for an Asian woman.

I never paid attention to what Hollywood does or doesn't do when it comes to casting. I pay attention to the plot.

I pay attention to it though because I know it is wrong. I wont be shocked if one of these days they will cast Matt Damon as Martin Luther King.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Now that would be an obvious error. Even I would notice that and object to it.

Hollywood is extremely hypocritical and guilty of accusations made to others.

I remember the writer of the Webseries Awkward Black Girl showed the script of the pilot of the show to Tv executives. One tv executives said he likes the concept but he wanted to change the protagonist into an Awkward White boy. He said he will air the show if they change that single flaw.....

Maybe Hollywood thinks people are too dumb or distracted to notice, especially if they are distracting by pointing the finger at others.

They keep doing white washing of Asian characters even though it angers fans and makes their adaptions flop. Also recently a producer forced a script writer to make a lead female character male because the producer thinks no one watches movies starring a woman.....
The last time I check Wonder woman is a success.
