Tonight I'm Heartbroken

I was already upset this morning by the senseless mass shooting that happened in Las Vegas. But then I woke to the news that Tom Petty had died.
Only he hadn't.
But now he has.
I guess Tom Petty was just so awesome he had to die twice.
I have loved Tom Petty since I was a girl. I have almost all of his albums -- I think I'm missing a couple. His music meant a lot to me. I was lucky enough to see him live once, in 2005. It was a magical experience and I will forever treasure it. I wanted to see him last month when he came back to Sacramento, but tickets were too expensive. I figured I'd catch him next time. I didn't realize he'd be gone only a month later.
Sweet dreams, Tom. Heaven must be rockin' tonight. I'm sure he has a lot of catching up to do with his old friends George Harrison and Roy Orbison, and the countless others who've left before him.
But here on Earth, I and the rest of his fans shall mourn.

Yeah, people I know were posting about him earlier in the morning, then in the afternoon they said he had passed.
Ugh too much sadness today.

That music video is so iconic. It is the lvoe story between a Mortician and a corpse. I love that music video.

I love his song Last night of Mary Jane. One of my first Mylot discussion is about that song. I also like him as a guitarist.

I was not a Petty fan but it is so shocking. The man gave three concerts less than two weeks ago here in LA to conclude a big tour. One moment he is fit and the next....

I was stunned when I heard. Most of my idols are older rock stars or actors, and I have been trying to brace myself for the inevitable...but Tom Petty was not one I was worried about dying anytime soon. I guess it just goes to show that we can go at any time. Nothing in life, including life, is guaranteed.
