Does your grocery list change with season?

October 3, 2017 9:23am CST
Autumn Series - Part3 I went for grocery shopping this weekend and found that my shopping cart contained many things different than it had a few weeks ago. The change in season not only brings about change in nature but in our bodies as well. So what goes in our body in the form of food plays an important role in maintaining our health. How my diet changes with season is as follows: - Lots of seasonal vegetables: Varieties of squashes, pumpkin, cranberries, carrots, apples. They are the produce of the season and available plentiful. Seasonal produce always give our body much more nutrition. - Warming spices: I always stock up on cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and other spices. They make my food and kitchen smell so good... - Herbal Teas: Be experimentative and try a few herbal teas to see what you like and give it a way in your life. It will help a lot to support you during cold season and prevent seasonal allergies. - Healthy oils: Coconut oil is my favorite. I also use olive oil and avacado oil. Does your grocery list change with season? If so, I would like to know. If if dind't, would you want to try this change?

Mine sure does. Things that take a long time in the oven to cook are not on my summer menu. I love turkey and plan on making one soon now that the weather has cooled down.

That's right. All that takes long to cook in oven is welcome in this season. The heat from the oven provide extra warmth as well :)

We change from light cold meals to heavy hot meals. In the heat of summer we don't cook very often. In winter we use the oven and slow cooker. We eat pinto beans with cornbread and things like that. Soups, chili, etc.

You are right. These days most of the fresh produce is available all round the year. It is all due to genetic engineering which has made most of the crops genetically modified.

You are right. Most are the things we need in every season, so they remain the same. What are things that change in your list?
