Day 44
Isaiah 50
50:1 Thus says the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinks, because there is no water, and dies for thirst.
3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens mine ear to hear as the learned.
5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
8 He is near that justifies me; who will contend with me? Let us stand together: who is mine adversary? Let him come near to me.
9 Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? Lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
10 Who is among you that fears the LORD, that obeys the voice of his servant, that walks in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
Many people suffer from depression, feel hopeless, find no meaning in their lives. They wander through life, wondering why. Their attitude is negative, they can’t find the ray of sunshine only the clouds that hide the sun.
Isaiah, was not a prophet who wandered in desolation, but stood firm on God’s promises. God taught him how to speak to those who were weary, hopeless. God opened his ears so he could understand. He showed that no matter what man did to him, he would stand firm and not allow the adversary, Satan, to come near him. Like the psalmist, he knew where his help came from.
Psalm 121:1 < I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help.
2 My help comes from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keeps thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.
God told him that his adversaries, all those who walked in the ways of the world, controlled by Satan, would be as nothing, they would become old like a garment that is motheaten and worthless.
As Christians, you know there is no condemnation to those who love God.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (KJV)
Satan has no power or hold over you. All you need to do is stand firm in God and watch him take care of your adversaries.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
When you stand in the power of the Holy Spirit, trusting God to take care of you, nothing Satan does will have any effect on you. God’s hand is not too short that it cannot redeem you or take care of you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me trust you to take care of me every time Satan comes at me with another temptation, with thoughts that condemn. Do not let depression cause me to turn my focus from you, but help me keep my eyes on you, resisting Satan, because I have the power of the Holy Spirit, as I stand in my armor, taking up the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, to cut down every thought and imagination that comes against your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
