The wettest place on the Earth! Can you take a guess?

The find might surprise you too because I sure was surprised.
Mawsynram, a tiny village of the Meghalaya state in the North-East part of India.
Average annual rainfall: 11,872 millimetres or 467.4 inches
The mighty Himalayan mountain range that stands as a massive blockade for the clouds prevent them from moving towards the North.
Cherapunji, also in India, makes the second wettest places in the world. This is located only 15 kilometres ( a little over 9 miles) away from Mawsynram. I used to think it was the wettest in India alone. Mawsynram was not even on my radar. You learn new things everyday.
Average annual rainfall: 11,777 millimetres or 463.7 inches
Both are neck to neck in competition for the position and also for the scenic beauty being the hub for several natural phenomenons. A 1:40 minutes tour below.

@wongchoryee Awesome! I must warn you that India, at first sight, can be overwhelming in a good way. I have seen several tourists describe it that way. Like a treat to all your senses.

@Daljinder Oh, yeah. And Ireland. But they have slow steady rains, I think. Don't you have monsoons, or something similar?

During my UPSC I learned this. Both Cherrapunji and Mawsynram had competition for which received highest rainfall. Chinna Kallar in Tamil Nadu, Neriamangalam in Kerala, Amboli in Maharashtra, Sitarganj in Uttarakhand, Chandbali in Orissa, Agumbe in Karnataka are als high rainfall places.

Very interesting. Are there many cases of landslide in those two places though because of the rain?

@Daljinder I don't like or dislike rain, DJ. To me, rain is just something different I have to put up with, just like sunshine. (I see beauty all the time. It doesn't need to be sunny for me to see it.)
Yes, I agree, the falls are what I was thinking about when I posted that.

@DaddyEvil Do you like rains? I do but this much will be difficult for me to bear. The falls look like a beautiful place indeed.

@mitu88 I hear that people don't keep the picnic areas neat for tourists. Is it true?
