"But lest some unlucky event should happen unfavorable to my reputation, I beg it may be remembered by every gentleman in the room that I this day declare with the utmost sincerity, I do not think myself equal to the command I am honored with." - George Washington
There is a topic of discussion, that I would like to share, from a previous discussion By @anniepa (26374). Stop the False Equivalency!
"There has never been a man that has held the title of president, that has been without his faults. Even John F Kennedy had moral fallout; the Bay of Pigs to give an example. We can not hold a man or woman to a God like standard, because they will fail us every time. However we must find the good in men/women, and uplift their better qualities, so that the people, do not suffer in vain. We must do our due diligence and strive for common ground." - My comment
The president of, the United States of America, Donald Trump, is a Troll. He is a product of his environment. What I mean is this: This is the age of Reality TV, the shock culture. The age of morals and ethics be d@mned. The people that came before him paved the way for someone like him to become the president. When people accept their roles, and come down off of their crosses, then and only then can we make progress. When I say people, I mean, We the People, not a political party.
If, We the People, do not hold ourselves to a higher standards of moral and ethical values, explain to me how you can justify trying to hold anyone else accountable; even the president. America has become a joke, not because of Donald Trump, but because of We the People. United we stand, divided we fall.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." President Kennedy's Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961
What do you offer, or what are you willing to sacrifice for the country that you claim is yours. Is it enough to call yourself an American citizen. People often take the American way of life for-granted. Your local government is your responsibility to maintain. As We the People make up our local and state governments. We are our school teachers, Police officers, Medical staff, Postal workers,Mayors and so on. We the People, have become to complacent, and entitled, no longer upholding our moral and ethical responsibility. It is the law of equivalent exchange.

Not an American but an observer of political systems vis-à-vis welfare of common citizens.
Yes, every leader is a product of circumstances thrown up by the realities of the day.
People everywhere have to select the best from the list though they turn out to be worse than than the previous.
It becomes a desperate choice sometimes with the common folks paying the ultimate price.
Democracy and freedom should not mean free for all where few can be even above law.
Elected leaders should know the pulse of those who reposed faith in them and rise above partisan politics.
If they lose themselves in petty mud slinging then they end up mere politicians - siva .

It is the unspoken law of moral and ethics.

@Belligerentkj Donald Trump believes he's above all laws and he certainly has no morals or ethics, nor do his adult children. I guess there are a fairly large number of his supporters who don't care about that but that doesn't mean we deserve him as a nation. The media with all their free airtime, the Russians and James Comey with his last minute letter all played a part along with our antiquated Electoral College, without which we wouldn't be on the path towards World War III.
