Hide and Seek ....

well we weren't actually playing the game from our childhood days....,   but we were in a hide,  and, we were seeking  birds... We went on a little outing to a wildlife reserve, it was a nice day.., dry and not too hot... as I said in my last post, the lady I was caring for was not well for several days, then the weather turned a bit wet and miserable, which ruled out sitting in the garden... but on this day ..., it had stopped raining, and the sun was valiantly pushing it's way through a variety of different coloured clouds ... so,  we decided to go out for a drive, and visit somewhere outdoors... which has wheelchair access... This particular wildlife reserve boasted good wheelchair access,  on it's  website, so we gave it  a go ... and we were not disappointed..., everywhere was wheelchair accessible,  even the bird hides, dotted around the edges of the various lakes and reed beds. Mrs  R  was thrilled to be able to go into one, (with our help), and have the window at the right height for her to see out of, and to see the variety of birds on the water... we saw some herons,  cormerants, egyptian geese and canada geese, many different varieties of ducks,  some swans, grebes, moore hens and kingfishers, as well as robins, and other  more common garden birds. Mrs  R was a keen photographer when she was younger, so is happy and enthusiastic about my desire to take photos.., and often says,  ohh susan that would make a good photo... she loves the idea of digital photography,  especially when I use the camera on my phone... sometimes I take over a 100 photos,  she always asks ..., how many this time. As we made our way back to the café , we met a  member of staff, who stopped and asked us a few questions about our visit, especially about the wheelchair access... and the path ways around the reserve... we gave him a big thumbs up and glowing report... and said we would leave some positive feedback and a review on the website.  We were going to go through to the shop and then the café  for a drink, but the wheelchairs wheels, were very dirty... so I asked him if he had a small hand brush,  that we could clean the wheels with, so as not to leave a dirt trail in the shop, I said I could see they had boot brushes and scrapers by the door, but could not see how to clean the wheels of the wheelchair, then showed him how dirty they were. He said no, he hadn't got a brush, but,  he went off to find one, and came back with one a few minutes later..., I thanked him... and mentioned to him it might be a good idea to keep it handy, for other wheelchairs,  especially if the ground is damp or wet.. All in all,  it was a great visit, we had some fresh air and enjoyed some lovely sights... The post photo is of some of the sights we saw...

It's good you mentioned the dirty wheels. It's possibly something that just hasn't crossed their minds.
