Watched a news report about America's problem with opioid addiction and my husband said the most shocking thing. He said he didn't believe it! I was astonished. Astonished - Number 1 – because I never thought to question that the reports might be “manufactured”. Astonished - Number 2 – because what would be the point of making something like that up? He said he worked in a pharmacy (he did work in the hospital pharmacy in The Bahamas) and he never heard such nonsense. “It's just been made up … Yadda yadda … I don't want some rookie inexperienced medical practitioner jabbing me with needles calling it acupuncture … blah blah blah … Somebody might stick a needle in me and I end up paralyzed! … etc. etc. … If I'm in pain and I don't need people practicing their pain management theories on me … I'll bet there's a shortage of ingredients to make the drugs because they're destroying the plant crops in Columbia and they don't want to tell anybody the truth! ..." On and on and on he went ... WHOA! OK. Seriously. I hadn't thought of half of things that he objected to. I couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth. But I know not to argue with my husband when he's already decided on a matter and does not accept the facts presented to be the real facts. So I have to ask others what they think. "Opioid addiction has reached crisis proportions in the United States." “ The CDC estimates that nearly 80 people die of opioid overdose each day in the United States. Opioid overuse is a critical issue, ...” Is that true? Do you think America has a real opiate addiction problem? Opinions? Thoughts? Comments? Real life pain management experiences?
The CDC estimates that nearly 80 people die of opioid overdose each day in the United States. Opioid overuse is a critical issue, and the need for interventions is becoming an urgent priority for many health systems.

Personally the problem here is that when someone has major Surgery they are offered and given really Strong narcotics and the problem becomes so many times they are offered so many of them at such a high dosage that often times they become so addicted that when they are tried to be removed from them, the pain is so intense all because they have not had to learn to live with the real pain. And then they have to live off these instead of learning to live without and they end up screwing up their bodies even worse.

No. Thousands and thousands of people are dying each year from a made-up thing.

I never doubted the news reports. However I also understand my husband's complaints.
