Three Sins You Would Burn The Longest In Hell For

We all can say things have changed over the years. I was just thinking about the three sins I was told that I’d burn in hell the longest for when I was growing up. They are sins that are no longer considered sins–as strange as that sounds.
Here are the three sins. If you did sin number one the ashes of your ashes would be ashes because you would burn in hell so very, very long. I suppose if you did all three you would burn so long there would be no ashes left.
3. Have sex out of wedlock.
2. Live with someone and have sex with them out of wedlock.
1. Become pregnant or have a baby out of wedlock (if not married before the event happened).
It didn’t matter if you were planning to get married, any one of these sins would earn you a very hot time in hell. Sure stealing and lying may get you burnt but not like these three sins.
Now days it is fashionable to do all three. And you will no longer burn in hell for doing them. I guess in the olden days (if that is what you want to call the days of my childhood) it was a way to scare boys/men into leaving their pants on and girls/women to keep their dresses where they belonged.
Oh, how times have changed.

I don't doubt these were/are scare tactics to keep people/couples/young folks in line. But people are more "open" these days . . . and with that comes opening up issues that were not talked about back in the days. There is rape and incest - and some girls do get pregnant as a result - it would not be fair to say these victims committed a sin. I didn't know these 3 were considered to be the worst sins - sheesh - I could think of far worse things to burn in hell for!

@RichardMeister I guess these days the thinking is more about the immediate consequences (in this life) rather than after/the unknown (the supposed fires of hell).

If there was rape or incest that was not considered a sin on the woman/girl's part but most definitely a sin on the man/boy's part. But if both parties were willing, then get ready for the fires of hell.

A lot of people would have burned in hell for all those three sins already. But like you said, times have changed, but does that also mean whoever punishes us has changed?

Whoever punishes us may not have changed but people's attitude have.

@toniganzon That could very well be. I am not the one to make that judgement.

I remember seeing an article in a newspaper in the 1930s where a woman had paid a man to marry her 13-year-old daughter because she was pregnant. Even in the 50s my mom said that her nosy neighbor was checking on her daily until she'd been married for nine months to ensure she didn't "have to get married."
They are still sins...just not in society's eyes.

I remember the whispers when someone got married, especially when it seemed to happen very quickly, if they had to get married.
Yes, I tend to think they are still sins but society doesn't care anymore.

None of the sins are so wrong that one create a guilt feeling for life. This sin approach is the mechanism of controlling people and is extremely foreign in Sikhism for a reason. We are in-charge of managing Lust, Anger, Ego, Attachment, Pride and nobody has a right to judge other than oneself. Yes, chastity is encouraged before marriage. Not enforced. After marriage, Sikhi does not enter the bedroom.

Yes, I'm sure it was more of a scare tactic than anything else.

yeah that is what I heard as well but the number one sin is you don't ever mock the Holy Spirit.

I believe it is, but I was just thinking about one of the things I heard most when growing up.
