Love is pain?

Correct me if I am wrong: but shouldn't love be something good for us? So, why is it practically associated with the fact that you have to suffer to get it? I mean, the real love (the one who is idealized to be eternal).
What is your opinion about this?
When I finished listening to this song I started to ask myself that.

Love is painful only if there is any expectation attached. If we love others without any expectation attached, then love is not at all painful. Moreover, love is not about clinging to the other person and if there is clinging, then love is bound to be painful. Any love that is possessive, obsessive and dominating in any manner is bound to be painful because it is not true love. True love never is painful.

The co concept of love is quite shaken. Lately I found two kids setting pages planning future and all claiming their bounds were eternal yet the same day I saw the kid talking his friends he MAY wanna live the relationship unless there's even better

Maybe it's because suffering makes love so much more meaningful and priceless? I don't know. Maybe it's also because we have to work out our differences and misunderstandings and avoid hate in the world to get to love.
