Depression is very common now a days, recently a lot of cases I heard of suicide because of depression.
I'm starting to wonder why there's an increasing number of cases of depression and it strikes in all ages.
Out of my curiosity, I am more interested now to read and study about depression, what are the causes, the symptoms and effects in human being. I think its important now to be aware of this kind of sickness because we wouldn't know one of friends or family member is suffering of such kind of illness without our knowledge, so atleast having an idea of depression could help us early those suffering from it.
Its really bothering.

Oh, good to hear about your Father, I suffered from kidney failure and undergoing Dialysis for 4 years.
I had depression, Doctor said its part of the process. And she assures that with proper knowledge of the sickness, understanding, and acceptance, Eventually, I will get better but no chance of making me okay unless transplant will do.

I'm not a doctor. I think it is possible that everyone is or has or will be affected by depression of some sort. My nail broke. Me depressed. It is my opinion it is a natural feeling we encounter and a normal emotion. First denial, then anger then acceptance - depression fits in there somewhere I guess?
But depression can be not normal if it gets too severe. Then we need to think of it as a sickness, yes so true. What do you think of my thoughts on depression?

I am not a doctor too but I agree with you that its normal to people to feel depressed in simple failures and disappointments and it make sense that acceptance is the important phase to avoid severe depression. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

@cttolledo I know you tagged the post as sickness and wanting to study the seriousness of depression as a sickness. I just thought in order for us to understand it we might need to remove the stigma of the disease. Often we think of it as their problem or those kinds of people until we are affected by the same affliction. And I think it helps us to understand people who are sick by thinking yeah I've felt that way too although it wasn't that extreme I know how that feels.
I like how you used the word avoid in connection with it as a precaution.

I have depression so feel free to ask me questions. I saw one post on Buzzfeed that I liked because I could relate to a lot of it. (LINK: But let me say that the way I interpret and experience depression is my own perception, and I do not represent all people with depression. It may look different for other people.

Actually no. I have an officemate who shared the story of her brother's depression, from her story I can say that in the moment of depression the help of the the expert (doctor) is a must to handle the long journey of healing.
