Chain Restaurants

I read an article that said chain restaurants like Chili's and Olive Garden are failing. Why do you think this is? Do you think this is true where you live? What are your favorite restaurants where you live? Do you have a favorite chain or do you avoid them all together?

I'm a seafood lover so any restaurant which offers seafood will be at the top of the list however I'm also a hot wings person so there are numerous tops. Love this huh?

Are there local restaurants that you like better than Red Lobster and Hooters?

Too much competition, higher costs and prices, people can't afford them like they used to.

Perhaps people are getting tired of the same places and are trying different ones.

I have one thats my favorite: restaurants that serve west Sumatran food. They are everywhere in all provinces of Indonesia.

@tsatske Most food is filled with chilli: chilly meat, chilli chicken. Many Westerners are not used to it at the beginning.

What kind of dishes is Sumatran food? Even in my hometown, which has a lot of different Ethnic restaurants, I have never seen that. What is it like?

We have a place called Burger Bar and the hamburgers to me are to die for. They are huge and the fries are also huge. I love them.

Sounds awesome. the 'bar' part makes me think of a toppings station, where you can put whatever you want on your burger, like CW Burgers. Is it like that?

@tsatske You order at the counter and they ask what you want on it. It is not a bar. That is the name of the place.

Many chains are just sub-par in the quality of their meals and just so high in calories. We occasionally go to Five Guys.

I do get tired of chains, so when I can, I visit an independent restaurant. But we mostly have chaina here it seems.

I don't find chain restaurants serve the best foods. Specialty upscale restaurants are a much better option if you can afford them. Also, the service is not always the best at chain places and the menus are seem dull and uninspired to me.

I do go to chain restaurants because of the wide variety of foods they have. I also go to local restaurants.

They aren't very good. Oftentimes the foods are loaded with preservatives, especially salt and more people are trying to be healthier. I barely go to chain restaurants or fast food either.
