My first job

At work we found ourselves discussing our first jobs when one of my coworkers said he didn't get his first job until he was 30. I was 11 when I first started working. I took markers and created some flyers that I put out around the neighborhood. I gathered a bucket, windex, soap, paper towels, wash clothes and two friends and we did a door to door car wash. I answered the phone and scheduled appointments. Since it was my idea, my supplies and my phone number being used, I was the "CEO" of my company. I kept 60% of my payments, and paid my "employees" 20% apiece. I would restock the supplies and the rest was my profit. Luckily mom and dad didn't charge me for using the phone. LOL That summer, I made good money. I had a profit of over $250, this included tips from our customers. For an 11 year old little girl, that was fantastic.

You were quite the entrepreneur weren't you? My first job was leading ponies up and down, giving little children rides. I was 11.

Yes, I've also ran my own home daycare before too, but I was in my late 20s when I did that

My first job was at an ice skating rink. I taught lessons to children under the age of 5 when I was about 13 years old. I worked there until I was 16, and then the day I turned 16 I found another job and ran out of the rink! Wasn't the best place to work.

Oh, I hope you liked your second job much better. What did you dislike the most about the skating rink?

By that age I was doing childcare. I did that for years, and never thought of it as a job, but it was. The summer I was fifteen I watched five children, forty five hours a week.

That's great job but boring . How much you got for baby care on those days ? Is it affordable ?

@Lignitecityabishek96 well, when I did childcare in NYC I charged $40 for an 8 to 10 hour day, that was $4 an hour considering minimum wage here is $7.25. So, yes it was affordable. I even fed the children in my care for the price. I also did overnight care for $35 since the child was asleep after bedtime snack and had breakfast before they went home.

Oh I had babysat for family by the age of 7, but I don't count that as work since I wasn't paid for it. Lol

That was a good learning experience. I only have one job in my lifetime and I still enjoy it.

I would have to think hard to remember every job I've had. Definitely more than 10.

Wow that was amazing. In the future are you going to allow your children to be working also at the age 11? I guess i would. For me.

My kids are already 14 and 16. There are too many legal restrictions now so they will be getting their first jobs soon.

Yes we should allow. At that age only children have enough energy and wild ideas. We should support them and also take care of their activities. Some time it may develop in wrong way also .Like gambling ..

Wow you started working while still very young. At eleven i was still depending very very much on my parents. They had a belief that children that age are not supposed to know anything about money.
