A Shocking Phone Call

I met her at a dinner party thrown by my sister-in-law in Florida about ten years ago in the days before we bought our condo. We always had so much in common. We've been friends since that day.
She is my waking buddy.
We ring in the New Year with her and her wonderful husband.
We golf together.
We play tennis together.
We shop and dine out together.
We live on the floor above her in Florida.
We go to her St. Patrick's Day party.
She and her husband drove in from Long Island to attend our son's wedding, and she looked so beautiful.
She called me this morning while I was out walking. She was diagnosed with a rare form of colon cancer and will undergo surgery Saturday.
As if that weren't enough, her beautiful daughter may need her kidney removed next week. The doctor will determine that during surgery. She can't have a transplant.
I also lost a Facebook friend from England. She lost her battle with breast cancer.
I'm very sad today. If you don't have your health, what is left?

@DianneN Don't think I'm finished with you. I still pray for you and your family every day. I prayed for your son's wedding. I pray for your granddaughter's skating exhibitions. I pray for your grandson's hockey. I pray for good travel for you when you're going anywhere. I'll never be finished praying for your family. You feel like family to me. And now I will extend that to your friends as well. God heard from me on their behalf this morning.

The clock ticks, a time we can't pick.
Each day counts, as the days mount.
Short or long, we can be wrong.
Minute by minute, we're in it to win it.
I'm sorry to hear, what everyone fears.
I'm with you friend, @DianneN .

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope they can help your friend and stop this hideous cancer. My brother in law passed away this past Tuesday from Multiple Myeloma a rare blood cancer.

My first thought - looking at the photo was - how fun you are your friend look. I was gonna say "I wish I could hang out with you all". :-)
I am so sorry to hear of your English friend's passing, friend's daughter and your friend's diagnosis.
One can always send support through prayers and good vibes to your friend. The medical advances they are making are wonderful now.
Health truly is wealth

I don't know what to say. I made friends with a third cousin of mine who lived in the US (never met him in my life!). We often chatted with each other about this and that for about two decades. He was a Roman Catholic priest, with ill health. Then one day, he just got too quiet, and I was too busy to find out why he didn't answer my emails. I found out half a year later that he was gone (he was 20 or 30 years my senior).
