Its pay day today. That means that I am a bill payer. The computer helps a ton with that chore. I am a tax payer, too. I looked around the other day and realized: Halloween packs a punch. I must pay the property taxes by then or get smacked with a monetary slap. So this morning I go the old fashioned route with the county. I write them a hefty check and hunt up a stamp. No messing with debit cards with them. Go with a check or cash. I am also a pie baker. Apple pie is on the menu for tonight. Barley pilaf, too. I've hacked out some alfalfa for the little horse. Soon as I get the hens fed, the barley will be put to boil. Some where in this day there must come a nap. This tax paying and power bill payer needs a nap. Then onto making pie pastry.

@mikaelajuliet Just a few types. I share life with a little horse and 5 hens. The people that are allowed in the house: 2 dogs and 3 cats. We had turkeys and ducks but something got them. Maybe next Spring I should get another couple of ducks. I'd have to make a place where they would be totally enclosed, wire overhead, too, cause there are predators and that's how we lost a lovely flock about a year ago.

@mikaelajuliet There used to be a rule over here about a maximum of 1 dog and maybe 2 cats. We moved out into the country and somebody- don't look at me! got going on stretching that rule a bit.

Oh wow, it's really different here. My property taxes are due at the end of January and because I am over 65 I am allowed to make quarterly payments, whew. It's never easy to pay taxes but then that's what humanity has been gripping about for centuries. Isn't it funny that our forefathers created the USA to escape taxes?

@rebelann That one seems to be permanent. Counties really are not set up to give free rides to anybody.

@rebelann My hubby could get out of payments cause he is handicapped but when we looked into that years ago on another house, we discovered that the payments would be deferred. In other words, when we sold the place, we'd owe all those taxes. We said No thanks!
