Managements done it again!

Ah, work. Does anyone else work under management that seems to make one horrible decision after another? How do these people end up in positions of power?
We recently switched our entire system to this horrible new system that has been slowing our productivity way down. A task that once took 3 minutes now takes in excess of 8-9 with their new policies and clunky computer software. Management realized we were not being as productive as we have been in the past, so they made two executive decisions:
-Beef up staffing to our "summer levels" - meaning overtimr coverage needed for 1-3 extra people at all hours of the day. After an exhausting summer of mandatory overtime we are to continue with it "until further notice". This means an extra 8-12 hours of overtime per week for most. Nice for the paychecks, but not good for employees already burned out.
-We have been banned from any type of "extra curricular" activities until further notice. Essentially, rather than admit their new system is causing the productivity delays, they are blaming cell phones, books and other items staff may have during down time. As someone who works the night shift, and find myself with barely anything to do at 4am, this is disheartening. In our down time we are supposed to review policies. Sounds like a blast!
What bothers me most is management blaming their poor new system on employees. I try to remind myself to be happy I am employed, but it is a struggle sometimes.
Thanks for listening to my rant! Anyone experiencing something similar?

Yes, when I was working in the call center industry. There are no days we don't have Mandatory OT. We worked for 8 hours then another 2 to 3 hours OT and that hurts us most of the time because we also need to rest. Aside from that, we also have what we called WORK ON REST DAYS. Can you imagine the exhausted faces we have?

The last company the owner was terrible, on payday you never knew if you were getting paid, he would blame it on the payroll company... but i did the payroll and knew better, he was spending the money in the account and had trouble paying the employees.. Eventually he filed bankrupcy

@maezee well, he closed up and would let people go in groups, and would cut them a check the day he let them go. He actually didn't tell the crew he filed bancrupts right away.. People like me that had vacation on the books were told we had to wait until after he auctioned off the equipment. He told me he would pay me on my last day , when the day came he did not pay me. Still short of funds, i had to wait a bit , but did not get the full amount, and was not let in the building when i came to get my check, none of us could come in any more. I had a print out of all my hours on the books, but there was nothing people could really do. It was very complicated.

Oh...you are not understanding it properly. This is what I am observing. You have to view the things from the management point of view but not from your point of view. They make some changes keeping something or expecting something in the long run. In such a situation it becomes hard to adjust or digest the change introduced. Better you wait and see the result after some time.

I have been asking that question every day of my adult life how most people like that end up in power. . "I do not like it sir. When these guys get their heads together, its expletive dangerous" -Doc Bryant - Generation Kills.
Hope they figure out a better way for you and your coworkers sanity.

That is so frustrating. It's like people who are in charge forget what it was like to be the boots on the ground (so to speak)
