The management of the New York Yankees have decided it is time for a change in the field manager position by letting Joe Girardi who managed the team for 10 seasons to leave. Girardi who succeeded Joe Torre as the Yankees manager led the team to one World Series title, six playoff appearances during his ten years of managing the team. Girardi's contract was set to expire on Tuesday which may have been a reason to make a managerial change on Thursday. The 2017 postseason has seen three managers terminated after the playoffs which are Dusty Baker of the Washington Nationals, John Farrell of the Boston Red Sox and now Joe Girardi of the New York Yankees. The Yankees were eliminated from the playoffs after losing a best of seven American League Championship series against the Houston Astros.

So technically he wasn't fired. Who they going to hire? Dusty Baker? Girardi did a good job this season.

That is a good question who will be the next New York Yankees manager. Dusty Baker would a great choice.

I think Girardi did a good job with the team he had. It is a pity for him that the Yankees organization has such high standards and goals year after year. For the Yankees one WS ring in 10 years is a bad run. For many other teams he would be untouchable (I am looking at you Mike Scioscia).

I like him. He was the Rockies' first catcher.
