Rebuilding Marawi: a heavy weight on my daughter's shoulders.

Before 2017, Marawi was only known to the Maranaos. It is their home. Mindanaoans agree that Marawi, weather enhanced by Lake Lanao, is a haven of beauty.
Not so any more. The five-month long battle that the Maute brothers, together with ISIS affiliated foreign nationals, spearheaded, has reduced the splendid beauty of Marawi to nothing but ruins.
Alas, the heaven-like Marawi looks like Syria, turned ugly by the ravages of war: bullets, blood, and the rampages of an evil ideology that only brings death. And sorrow.
The war, the government declares, is over and done with.
Reality: position papers are not ready, there is no workable plan yet on how to rebuild Marawi.
My daughter is right there right now, to make an assessment.
A baptism of fire for a young urban planner as my daughter. I am praying she gets the job done.

Its a big task for a rare opportunity for her. I'm sure she'll do it because she knows Marawi needs her
