I did a stupid mistake today. Man! I should had insisted! My mom in law saw a bottle of Revitalift Day and Night cream on my table. She inquired about them, I told her about the usage of the creams. She was keen on trying them and asked me to buy a set for her. I told her that I can give her a new set since I bought 2 sets at a very cheap price USD$5 for 2 bottles of 8ml. She insisted to pay me the money but I refused to take her money. Afterall, she is my mother in law, I can't take her money, right?? She wasn't pleased when I refused to take her money. She left the money on the table and was determined not to take it back, she took the cream bottles. Hubby was not pleased when I didn't return her money because it is not right to take it. Man ! I should had insisted . Now both sides are angry at me !!

You did right and your husband should not be mad at you because she insisted you take the money. If he wants to give it back to her then he can. You did all you could do.

No one should be mad about anything. She left you money because of gratitude and you wanted to give the money back because of generosity. It is simple. Perhaps to make everyone happy, buy something for her with the 5 dollars, it is a nice gesture to your mother-in-law and you used the 5 dollars that she wanted you to use!

Wow you really got stuck in the middle for just trying to be nice! I'd just put the money up and they will all get over it.

It wasn't your fault, you can't force or impose on your mother in-law. Gladly put your money in your bag.

haha! that's a very problem because you are in a situation that you have mo choice. But in that kind of situation your husband should understand you.

if she left it there, even if you don't want to, then you have no choice but to accept it so as not to embarrass her. but if your husband feels embarrassed taking his mother's money, even if you bought the creams and they're not his, then he should be the one returning the money and explaining to his mother. maybe you can buy something, either for your mother-in-law that she can use, or something for the house, or food everyone can partake in.
