'Personalized' Online Shopping Experience

Sometimes online stores like Amazon will tailor your shopping experience to you by suggesting similar products to your recent purchases or views of a product. Or, when you are at the checkout or shopping cart page, there will be other similar products displayed. Do you like these suggestions? Do you find them annoying or useful? Have you ever bought a suggested product? I do not really enjoy them, I think they are just attempts to get more money from me. However, I cannot say they are entirely not useful because they occasionally help when comparing products, like on Amazon.

Sometimes I find them annoying but other times they help me find something I was really looking for, so I can't really say they're that bad. As long as I avoid impulse buying I think I'm fine.

They would be helpful if I shopped on Amazon which I do not.
