Favorite "Wild" Songs #2 - "Walk on the Wild Side"

We have a match! @FourWalls started a music countdown of her favorite songs with "wild" in the title, and I joined in on the fun. We have actually done a lot of these, and believe it or not, have only matched on a handful of songs. This one was inevitable, though. I am at #2: "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed. Produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson (both of whom also are credited with playing guitar on the record,) "Walk on the Wild Side" is probably Reed's most popular tune. The song reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100, #10 in the UK, and charted in ten other countries. The single has been certified gold in Italy. A big hit, even though the lyrical content speaks of risque subjects such as oral sex, male prostitution, transvestites, and drug use. It should be noted that each person that Reed sings about during the song is real. The singer actually knew and hung out with these people (all were part of the scene at Andy Warhol's Factory studio.) I've linked to a 1982 live performance of the classic. If you've ever wondered what "Walk on the Wild Side" might have sounded with a guitar solo, this will give you a good idea. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

His best tune! I am also partial to "I Love You, Suzanne."

I actually really like this song and I never knew it had such risqué references. Ah then I was a teen when I was listening to Lou Reed a lot. Ignorance is bliss

It would never get released as a single these days. I'm surprised it still gets played on the radio every so often.
