School shooting plans

My BFF's grandson is in highschool. A boy there was 'shooting' other students with his finger and thumb - just a 'gun' motion. The school called the cops. In the first place I'm not sure how I feel about this, why should that be illegal? If it's against the rules suspend him, but why involve the police? But the police came and searched his locker and backpack. They found a list of students labeled 'Kill list'. My BFF's grandson was number 4 on this list. His girlfriend (Grandson's gf) was number one, with a note next to her name that said, 'Kill you and then rape your corpse'. They suspended him for 6 weeks. They are talking to the DA. Again, I'm confused what he did that was illegal - scary as hell, but illegal? He wasn't found with a gun.

No, but his intentions were clear. If he's already got a 'kill' list, he's a danger to others as well as himself. The school did the right thing.

So scary. Hopefully they will get that young man some intensive help. It sounds like he must be very troubled to write a list like that.
