It has been a good weekend. Tomorrow is back to work.
The kids will be very wound up, as Tuesday is Halloween. We have a little parade at the end of the day in costumes.
Of course the rest of the week the kids will be overly high on sugars and goodies.
Never a dull moment, for sure.

@YrNemo When my kids were in school the school was asking for healthy drinks and treats. I would mix cranberry, apple and grape. Nice color, good taste, lots of health and a bit more pricey than Kool aid.

Oh, I can hear the sarcasm in your typing. They do not get quite so worked up about Thanksgiving, but after Halloween they know that Christmas is coming.

@GardenGerty One of the kindergarten teachers used to tell us parents, 'children are harder to control after a party with red drinks and lots of sweets!'

This is the first year I have refused to buy candy. I know no one will come, and I will not sabotage myself with it.

Yes, and you cannot reason with these kids. We tried to talk about healthy food, vs yummy food yesterday, and boy was someone mad. Wasn't me.

@just4him The conversation, in all fairness, was with a mentally retarded child. We were talking about a variety of foods and sweet treats. She was angry when we said that although ice cream is yummy, it is not a good healthy food and you should eat small amounts. It depends on the child, and what they grew up with, etc. For many, sweet goodies are comfort and love.

@GardenGerty I don't know why someone would get mad about eating healthy, but it is Halloween after all and the kids probably don't want to be made to feel guilty about all the candy they're going to get or got if you had trick or treat yesterday as some did. We have ours today.

I'm working Halloween but have the day after off. I'm glad over hyper kids and retail is not a good combo

The day after will be all the greedy adults looking for half price goodies left over.

@thislittlepennyearns Wow. Some of the same will claim to have no money for food, afterwards.

@GardenGerty they're already greedy adults looking for dollar candy. We've sold thousands of dollars of candy. Which is impressive since all our candy is $1

I think I will dress up as an "old woman" I have on purple and will add a red hat.

I will be dressing up as me as I have quite a lot on my plate at the moment but I still enjoy the feeling of Halloween anyway and am thankful there are trickers or treaters as they are not very nice here.

All these breaks in routine keep things from being boring but they certainly are hard for very small kids and special needs kids to understand waiting and not letting it disrupt learning.

My daughter's school's costume parade is in the morning, and then they change out of their costumes and return to a normal school day.

I think that would be impossible. Normal day of school on Halloween seems and oxymoron to me.

@GardenGerty They somehow managed it, although I don't know how well the kids behaved through the day compared to other days.

We never had Halloween celebrations growing up in Britain although they do it now. I never did it with my children either in Jamaica as as Catholics it is All.Soul's Eve. Things are different now and children do.come to me so I.must remember to.buy candy tomorrow!

I am in a town that will have a community celebration. I will not buy candy for the house as I will eat it all.

Yes, trick or treat, costumes, candy, prizes and parties. It makes it very hard for them to concentrate.
