Foods To Promote Sleep

I am always interested in foods or ways that help to promote sleep. Did you know that bananas have Tryptophan in them? And magnesium is a great sleep aide. Also, tart cherry juice, kiwis, almonds, walnuts, and white rice. Chamomile and PassionFlower Tea too. Magnesium is a great supplement if you have trouble with sleep. Magnesium has a lot of benefits in the body but to name just a few.....it helps the muscles to relax, reduces PMS symptoms(water retention and fatigue among other things), helps with insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes, plays a big role in migraine severity, reduces inflammation in the body, and lowers blood pressure.

I take Magnesium in hopes of aiding the migraines I have, but I am not sure if it really works. I have eaten cherries at night for sleep, and it undoubtedly helped.

We use a product called L-tryptophan, extra strength (health food stores and Amazon) and I snack on roasted, unsalted walnuts, hazel nuts, pecans and almonds several times a day.

I may have to look into taking some magnesium. I think a calcium magnesium supplement might be the best.

Right now I cannot take or eat most of the above. I can drink the Chamomile or Passion Flower tea and the tart cherry juice or kiwi. But rice, almonds and walnuts are not allowed nor are bananas' I am on a doctor regulated weight loss program for the next 63 days and all those items are not allowed nor is oil or sugar of any kind. Magnesium is allowed and I have that in the supplements the doctor gave me. Good to know these things though as I can start resuming those food items in 63 days

Too bad you can't eat nuts right now. They are so very good for you. Good luck in your diet. Hope it is over soon and you lose a lot.
