The influence of Actors and Celebrities over the society

The number of magazines and write-ups on actors, actresses and celebrities and the manner in which the media and the public go crazy over anything and everything they do shows that people are never fed up of news and gossip about them. I wonder why this happens? Other than the fact that they are glamorous and rich there isn't much to look up to . So, why this constant attention and media frenzy ? In India when a popular actor ran over a couple of poor workers sleeping on the pavement because he was drunk , instead of condemning him , many of his fans were worried and praying that he does not get punished. He of course with his clout and money power , got away with the murder and is free and even more popular now. This is just an example and each time some such case comes up I keep questioning the media for giving them publicity and the fans for the kind of support and adoration they bestow on these rich and famous people. But it is sad to see that the celebrities do influence the lives of people either directly or indirectly , ..

We should not blame the media, but the stupidity of normal people. If nobody would care for those so called "celebrities", they would not have special treatments by the authorities.

@LadyDuck I totally agree with you. The VIP culture brought in by the political leaders where they include the celebrities and themselves for special treatment. Many media channels n India are fighting against this culture ..

@LadyDuck I hope so because as of now the media frenzy and public adoration seems to be increasing.

@kiran8 I hope that in the future we will stop to consider them as semi-Gods only because they were successful in life.

I find it disturbing too. I think it has to do with the fact that today's society is a rather hedonistic society. It's like many people's lives revolve around fun, entertainment and celebrities rather than things that really matter. I don't keep up with celebrity news at all, I only know something once it becomes viral on social media.

@cahaya It is the same with me , I am.not interested in celebrity lifestyle but it is there everywhere you look. The stupidest comments made by a celebrity or a star gets highlighted..it is pathetic!

Yes there is a very big influence of celebrities on our lives. In the one particular case you mentioned, there does seems to be a cover-up, and this is not good. However, it seems that since there is a backing of high-ups in this case, there is not much that can be done. Its perhaps the screen glamour and dazzle that engulfs the minds of people and makes them so crazy about celebrities.

I could never understand why people are so fascinated by actors and singers.

I guess it is because of the larger than life image and the glamor that surrounds them.Anything and everything they do fascinates people ..

Personally, it has been that way for many many yrs, and in a lot of ways is Sad. If you know the right people you can about do anything both Good and Bad and no one really cares. They almost even reward you because of who you are. But what lessons is that teaching our Society and kids these days? Punishment for something should be the same punishment no matter who you are.

Exactly my view ..More than the celebrities one has to blame the system that is setting a bad example by being partial to some simply because they have money, power and fame..

This is really sad . In India people who have money can do anything as people are corrupted. I understood of which actor you are talking about. He also escaped from deer killing case by using money and power still he has maximum fans and followers in India. What an irony a murderer is prayed by us

Not just in India , this is true of other countries as well but the difference is that they may not be able to escape the law as easily they are able to do in India .

That s because there are enough number of people reading it. Most of these people who go and stand outside the house of a star are basically jobless.
