Unfortunately, my oldest wasn't allowed to dress up for halloween this year because it may be offensive to other students or there parents. Why is this so? I mean, growing up, I dressed up for Halloween every year because it was fun. This PC sh** is seriously getting annoying and the "being offended" by EVERYTHING is just out of hand. Get it together people.

I love, love, love Halloween, but why does it need to take up school time. When I was a child (60s) Halloween happened completely after school.
My kids dressed up and had parties at school. I saw no need for that.
As a teacher I have seen kids dropped off at school just in time for the Halloween party after missing the morning to get ready. There are good reasons to keep Halloween out of school.

I'm from a small town. A SUPER small town. This place used to celebrate everything. They still celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas at the schools. I don't know, I think I'm just used to the way that it was. I understand things change, but there is so much more that is changing from how it was when I was growing up. Kids can't even learn easily anymore. It's all common core stuff that even parents have to take a class to learn. I just want my kids to be allowed to be kids. Halloween is fun and happy times for kiddos and I think if it were still fun at school they'd appreciate more of what the parents do for them during trick or treating time in the evenings. I'm still waking up so I apologize if this makes no sense.

I wonder what kind of parents would be offended? You're right; this pc stuff is past ridiculous.
I don't celebrate Halloween any more (used to, though) but I would not be offended by kids dressing up if they want to.
That said, so many other holidays are not celebrated in school any more that it's kind of strange that they allow Halloween to be.

People being offended by everything has been taken to the extreme, I agree. I'm sorry your oldest couldn't dress up this year at school. I'm very glad I chose to home school my kids.
