The game is on, and my internet is back on, so it's time for some cowbell! Thanks to that classic SNL skit about "more cowbell" (that even @dgobucks226 referenced in his most recent "Songs With Halloween References" trivia post) I'm looking at ten of my favorite cowbell-banging songs. Here's today's song.
#7: Crosseyed And Painless - Talking Heads
One of the websites that lists cowbell songs called this "the grandaddy of all cowbell songs." Yeah, this is probably one of those great exhibits in how to really put cowbell into a song.
And, of course, it's Talking Heads, so they could have done an album with nothing but cowbell and make it interesting.
This is Talking Heads' "rap" song (the "facts rap" in the middle: "Facts are simple and facts are straight"), too.
Trivia: Toni Basil (of "Mickey" fame) directed the video, which featured street dancers instead of the band.
Crosseyed And Painless
Written by David Byrne, Brian Eno, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison, and Tina Weymouth
Recorded by Talking Heads
From Remain in Light, 1980
