Do you believe what the news tells you about something?

How many of you have read something in several newspapers with different statements? I have because it seems like what was printed was before they got the facts and all the information. There are newspapers it seems like to just print something and do not care if that is the truth or not. I have certain ones that I go to online to see what they say because there are many news places here that do not print the truth. So, do you feel the same way that you continue to find the right one that you feel will tell you the truth?

I don't read newspapers as much as before, but sometimes news channels contradict each other too.

I never believe 100% what I read or see in the news. I understand that every news outlet has a bias, and reports the news in a way that favors their bias. So, I try to look at a news story from several different sources before coming to a conclusion about what is factual or fiction. In most cases, I don't even pay attention to the news because everything they report is negative news. Life is too short to be reading/watching all that depressing news!

As with doctors, it's important to get second opinions.

@Hannihar I dislike having to go to any doctor except for checkups.

Dianne, it depends for me on what was diagnosed. I lived in a place before where I live and wanted to check to see if I had allergies so had to go to an allergist. He did not find anything. When I moved to where I live recently I decided to go check again with a different allergist if I have allergies to something and she discovered that I might be allergic to these leaves that are found outside my building. She prescribed something for me to take for my cough in addition to what I already take. What she prescribed is for allergies. She told me one time when it would start if I am allergic. So started to sneeze and cough several times in a row and then stopped. She told me that the period did not begin again and then she told me has to be all day and so I just did not go back and just deal with my regular doctor. I hate going to specialists.

I don't read any newspapers, or watch the news. I am not oblivious to it though, I do hear what's going on. I agree, there are newspapers who don't get their facts right before they publish.

I think it is a good idea to try to get a 'second opinion' on news items. Some sources can't be relied on at all.

I prefer getting news and updates from the internet, sometimes newspapers print different versions of a story.

I read one thing and then check several sources. I also discovered that the Internet badly needs some cleaning up. Just recently I read a story and thought this would be great to share. So I took the trouble of writing it up my own way and then went to check out a couple of things. I discovered that the story I had rewritten about the person was completely different from another source. In the end since I didn't really know the right answer I deleted my writing and didn't post it. In the end I discovered that to be really sure about facts you have to check out Wikipedia facts. So the Internet lacks many things.

That is terrible that you wrote it up and then you did not have all so had to delete it. You are right Rasma that the internet does lack many things. I like to use Wikipedia for information.
