I had to take yesterday off, but here we are at #9 in my Favorite Australian Bands series, inspired by @JudyEv and her suggestion of a countdown of bands from her home country. The 9th position belongs to the great Hunters and Collectors.
Hunters and Collectors formed in Melbourne in 1981, and despite a couple of lengthy hiatuses, are still at it. The group took their name from the song "Hunters and Collectors" by the German band, Can.
(Fun Fact: Australian label Mushroom Records, when they signed the band, started a new, alternative music label called White Label, specifically for that purpose.)
The band has released nine studio albums and 32 singles. They are in the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame (inducted by Midnight Oil vocalist Peter Garrett.)
There are so many great songs to choose from, but I've linked to the official video for their 1987 Australian/New Zealand hit "Do You See what I See?," which should give you an idea of just how great this band is.
Enjoy!

@bluesa - Oh yes, what a great band! I am especially fond of their album, Red Sails in the Sunset.

They're still going today. Interestingly enough, they became very popular in Japan at the time & possibly more non-Aussies like them & their music more than we do!

The Japanese have excellent taste in music. Lots of bands have become popular there, before they've caught on at home.

Had never heard of them. My ex-Fiance grew up in Australia. I wonder if I will see one of the bands I really liked that he put me on to, on here. (unnamed for now, don't want to sway the outcome.) :-)

@dgobucks226 - It's too bad they never made it past the college radio status.

I have actually heard this song. Good stuff. Sounds like they may have been influenced by Midnight Oil.
