Illegal Promotion Of A Business On myLot ??

Less than a week ago I posted a discussion about my son's new job. I talked about his benefits and his schedule and how he feels about his job. I thought this was a pretty innocent post.
Apparently not. One member said I was promoting his place of business on the mylot platform. I responded that no I wasn't I was just talking about my son's job. He again said I was promoting his place of business. I didn't talk about the products they sell or the website to do such things. Now while I don't mind his comment, I do question my own post.
My question is did I?? So if any of us talk about our jobs does that mean we are promoting that particular place of business? Especially if it's a well know business? Did I innocently promote this business. Have I broken the rules?
What are your thoughts on this. Did I break a rule?

No, you did not break any rule. Only posting links to a commercial site is considered against the rules. People here talk about restaurants they visited and hotels they liked and I have never seen one of those discussions deleted. Do not worry, you did not break any rule.

@fishtiger58 There is nothing we can do when some closed minded users insist on something. Simply ignore them.

@LadyDuck I sure will, even when he made his comment I thought I had done nothing wrong. But I had to be sure.

I wouldn't worry about it. I wrote a discussion once commenting that our family was experiencing a year of important milestone. I had another Mylotter tell me I wasn't allowed to put up milestone posts...they just wanted something to complain about.

I don't think it is at all, and I take issue with members who think they are employees of MyLot and hence "the enforcers" oh please!!!

I didn't mind his comment but now I question myself. Mylot hasn't removed my post so I'm thinking I didn't break any rules.

No you did not. What I read was how proud you were that your son got a job with awesome benefits. Like Snowy said, The people who want to act like they work here.

What I know is talking about the business and promoting is a very different thing. Talking about it is just purely speaking your opinion about it, while promoting is a combination of informative text and persuasive text, it's a bit complex. And in your case I think you didn't done anything wrong since you only talk about how great the business or job is, plus who doesn't want to get their business promoted like for free? Don't feel any guilt, you didn't done anything wrong

@fishtiger58 Well that member is one attention seeker person... Better not mind that member, that person just got nothing to do with his/her life. What's important is your great and he/she is not

@Alian123 thanks I don't mean to call out that person at all, they are certainly entitled to their own opinion. I just wanted to make sure I didn't do anything wrong.

Absolutely not. You did not break any rules. It would be a completely different story if you stood to gain financially from the post your wrote about your son's job. Don't worry too much about it, you didn't do anything wrong. You were just proudly talking about your son. What mother wouldn't want to do that?

@moffittjc I think so too. My youngest hates when I brag about him, but I tell him it's my right and if he doesn't like it walk away lol.

@fishtiger58 - I didn't think you were promoting a business! I am shocked that anyone thought that! I was actually pleased to hear that your son had found a job with a good company. That is unfortunate that someone saw it differently.

Some members do not understand what is not allowed. I receive the same comment too when I responded with a link which is not a referral nor affiliate and I am not a member of that site. What is not allowed is when we encourage others to buy or join and we EARN commisions/percentage from them.

Oh I think I remember that post. -- I didn't get the impression you were promoting the place. I think the rule is to not post links to sites that sell - and you didn't, so... should be fine.

Sounds like somebody is looking to create a problem when there isn't one. I can't recall anything you've written that was illegal to discuss. It's not like some who start discussing how a person can earn money on their site, now those I report and usually admin deletes those.

i read your discussion about your son working over there... i also read that user's comment. i should say:
"no, you did not even commit an error". you did not break any rule.
that user, i try to not even check on his discussions. he also had the same reaction in one of my discussions. i hate to say this, but there are but a few users who assume they know everything in this site.
