Usually, when there is flood, we dread that our basement will have flood waters. We have it now.
After lunch, my sister told my son to switch on the light. We were surprised because there was water already, about 3 inches high. Immediately, we brought out the electric water pump and unrolled the big hose. We then attached the pump and dipped it down the flood waters, as shown in the picture. As you can see it, the water is now about half a foot high, and it is still rising.
There was also the announcement from our provincial government that classes are suspended tomorrow because of some impassable roads. I had a chat with my colleague Miss CC about this, and she said her house is also flooded.
I hope the rains will stop (it stopped now for about an hour) permanently and end the monsoon rains. It is also good that electricity is not cut off-we did not have typhoon anyway.

We've had a flooded basement a few times. It's a lot of work and bother,

@ridingbet that is scary my friend. In the university where I am teaching, flood is rampaging whenever there is torrential rain.

our city is already super-flooded. we are always checking on updates about the swelling of the river and the rising of the waters.

i expected the rains covered the entire Luzon. i am wrong. i hope the hot scorching summer heat won't come here, as the rains are making the atmosphere here cooler.

We sometimes get water in our basement as well. My husband has been putting more mortar in the foundation and that has helped a great deal. Good thing you didn't lose your electricity or the pump won't work.

yes, it is great the electricity did not stop. we had the pump continuously on until this morning; it had an hour break then it is on now again.

@fishtiger58 it actually end when the full moon is already done and the moon starts to wane. it is like monthly, when the tides rise and fall, as high tide and low tide.

We don't have a basement. Unless you guys over there built a super big tunnel with out people throwing trash on it, it wil always be flooded over there.

please read... we have a basement and not a big tunnel. the drainage here is now cleared of garbage; just the flood waters because of the swelling of the river

maybe the flood waters are receding but here in the basement, still it is with the waters, and our water pump is sucking them out.

my son asked me and my sister why our basement is always with flood waters when the river swells. we told him that our basement was fixed several times now, about more than 5, but still it had leaks and the water just sprouts out of nowhere. my late mother thought to fill the basement with soil and cover it again, but we disagreed. it will cost more time and finding grounds to fill it will take more financial aids.

where is the basement located? It looks like underground...

no, it is not an underground.that is the basement. a basement is like the cellar and it is partially covered and below the ground floor, while the underground is self-explanatory- it is below the ground, like a subway train.

Good thing it is only the basement. We were the ones hit by the typhoon (Visayas). We have to evacuate and move to higher grounds. A few bridges were broken. Water was everywhere!

i hope you all there are safe and secure now. the water in our basement has not yet receded from the water pump. the dam opened 2 gates again so we are expecting the flood waters still flowing in to the catch basin.
