So my 8 year old is saying his ear hurts and he has a slight fever for the past 2 days...(he's had this a few times) he just recently had a slight head cold. Anyone in here with kids that didn't need antibiotics to clear up an ear infection? I really don't want to have to go to the outpatients er and wait for hours on end.

Yeah I guess I will have to take him up to see dr. Here in Canada, there are LONG wait times to see a dr. One time we were there almost 4 hours waiting. I will have to get someone to watch my 3 year old I guess. *sigh* What was the name of the medication?

Whenever my kids got ear infections when they were young, we always had to get antibiotics to clear it up, but one remedy that helped relieve the pressure was to put hydrogen peroxide in their ears. It was recommended by the kids' doctor, and it worked like a champ! The peroxide would help clear up the blockage in the ear, but only antibiotics would clear up the infection that caused the blockage.
