What do people think of you?

I have a friend who is so nice. This... person... made a big scene in a panel room before stalking out. My friend, being part of the panel, said: "What an unpleasant person."
That is the worse thing I've ever heard her say about someone knowing her over 30 years.
My mother was also very nice. The worst thing I ever heard her say about anyone was: "She's very cold." I think meaning emotionally distant. Now, several coworkers who had to interact with her had far worst to say about this lady.
So, I've always wanted to be thought of as nice, and I have a pretty long fuse on my temper, but if you set it off... well, I may be small, but I'm mighty.
We went out to dinner with some friends last night. I was sitting between 2 of these friends and that former roommate came up.
I said: "I hope she's miserable."
My friend on my right nearly sprayed the table, she said she never expected something so vindictive to come from me.
Because, you see, when you finally get on my last nerve, you stay there!

What other people think of me is really none of my business. I learned to just let it go.

@allen0187 I really try to be, but this person didn't and started stuff for entertainment. She got "entertained" right out of the house.

When people don't know me well, they generally do think I'm "nice" as I do try to stay "pleasant" in front of people as much as possible.
But if I give anyone the chance to get to know me very well, they might on occasion see the horns .

I've been told I was a nice person, by more than one. I do try to be pleasant and helpful whenever possible.

Ah...the grin and bear it syndrome, which sometimes turns us into bears. Tolerance is a good thing, but sometimes people take advantage.

I'm nice for the most part but not if someone messes with my family. My husband and children are my world so I tend to lose it when someone steps over the boundary I have set.

I really try to be a good, a nice, person, but if I am tired, I can be very snappish. I have a pretty low tolerance for people doing stupid things. And I mean simple things, things that good sense says you shouldn't do. Things that thinking things out would solve the problem.

@LadyDuck I wasn't so much upset at the time, and I do raise my voice, but mostly when I have to get the person's attention. Like when Dumb Donna tried to walk away from us and I slammed my hand on the table and said "SIT DOWN." Loudly, firmly, but not screaming or yelling. Her butt hit the chair.

Yeah I see those things happen often. I really don't know what people can think of me. If it's similar to this case, I wouldn't want to say "I don't care what people think of me" either because it may might be might fault. I did try not to upset anyone either.
