Here are some songs that use a job as part of the title. Do you recall the name of the songs and artists? See if you know what the tunes have in common.
Listen to this sample video to get the first clue and common theme/titles of the music trivia:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EVDdt5jrUY
Video Facts:
-Frankie Ford recorded this song's in 1959. It was originally recorded by the group the "Clowns." Ford's version sold over 1 million copies and reached # 14 on the Pop Charts. He appeared in the 1978 movie American Hot Wax which told the story of DJ Alan Freed.
Here are the song clues: (Remember listening to the video provides a clue) Good Luck!!!
1. The artist wrote this about his grandfather. This was the only song the singer performed in his only appearance on Saturday Night Live. He is known for his signature Caribbean sound. As a kid the songwriter spent a lot of time on sailboats with this grandfather and father. He has a devoted base of fans known as "Parrot heads".
2. One of the band's biggest hits, this got extensive radio play even though it was almost 10-minutes long. On the album, the song had a dual label and was sometimes considered as two songs. Some stations played an edited version that was cut to about 5 minutes. There have been many interpretations on the song's theme one dealing with a ship's captain on a troubled voyage facing a mutiny from his crew. This tune was on the band's 1970 album. The band got Todd Rundgren to produce and refine their sound and the result was a # 1 hit from their 1974 Shinin' On album called "The Loco-Motion.
3. The song is about a drug dealer, a real person the artist knew, dealing drugs to affluent college kids. These students were throwing away a good education for partying and sex. The singer considers this an anti-drug song and sings about how the drugs effected the users making them lazy and apathetic This artist has had Top 40 hits in the 70's, 80's and 90's. The New York born and Long Island raised musician has used his state as inspiration for many of his songs.
Happy Recap:
1. Artist spent a lot of time on sailboats. Fans known as Parrot heads.
2. Song almost 10 minutes long. The tune was sometimes considered 2 songs. Had #1 hit "The Loco-Motion.
3. Top 40 hits in three decades. Anti drug song. Artist a New Yorker.
....Use those clues folks!!!!
Appreciate all who participate and you know what I say...as always, thanks for playing! Hope these songs brought back a pleasant memory for some...
