Is unemployment is good for professionally qualified candidates?

I feel unemployment for a small period is fine but for a longer period it can make some one go into depression as we are all aware of the fact that "Empty mind is a devil's mind" and why there are so many institutions if they cant provide employment to the students according to their skills and qualification ."Just to earn the bucks"? Are they not aware of the fact that it is harming them mentally.
