I just watched the movie, Ingrid Goes West, and I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure what to expect from it. The movie is about a social media stalker who moves to Los Angeles and insinuates herself into the life of an Instagram star. I think I figured that the movie would not be very intelligent but I was wrong. It turned out to be a very intelligent and well-made movie (starring Aubrey Plaza).
The movie shows how much social media can run someone's life. It's kind of scary to see how far some people get caught up in it. But the movie also showed some positive aspects of social media as well so it was somewhat balanced. Personally I can't relate to the social media fixations so many people have since I try to avoid social media but I know plenty of people who are downright addicted to social media. To me it seems like they live in a fake reality.
Does anyone know someone who is addicted to social media? What is your impression of that? And has anyone seen this film? I definitely recommend the movie as it shines a strong light on some of the problems of social media and internet addictions.
