A Weekend Away On My Own.

Tomorrow (Friday) I am going for a break completely on my own. There is a concert I want to attend on Sunday night, and it's in a town 70 miles away, but my husband wasn't keen to go.
I wouldn't leave him on his own as he needs quite a lot of care (he's 87), but fortunately our daughter is staying with us at the moment.. That being the case, I decided to treat myself to a whole weekend away.
I'm so looking forward to it. Would you go off on your own if you had the chance?

If I had the chance to go away on my own you can bet I would.
Your husband will miss you for sure.
Enjoy the Concert.

Even so I bet he will even though he might not say it out loud and most men are like that.

When I just got married the only meaning about marriage for me was doing everything together - even going to buy a pin. But thanks to my husband he taught me the value of each wanting their own space.

@allknowing It's good for each of you to have your own space, but now we are together practically 24/7 as we are both retired. In the summer I have my gardening, but in the winter I only have the time after he's gone to bed. He does go to bed early though, so then I'm on the computer until the early hours.

@jaboUK Yes exactly, I would be miserable if I left to go anywhere.

@LovingMyBabies You have too many responsibilities at the moment, too many people dependent on you. I only have the one. Thanks for your good wishes.

@Tampa_girl7 It's a country music concert Marie. I've seen them several times before, but the singer is retiring soon so this will be my last chance to see him.

@hostessman We usually do too, but as he didn't want to go I'm happy to go on my own. We are going to Spain together in a couple of weeks.

@jaboUK - Enjoy your well-deserved weekend. It can be exhausting to be a caregiver, and getting time to yourself is important!

@m_audrey6788 Yes, I realise that it wouldn't suit everyone, but we've been married for 52 years, so I think we can do without each other for 3 days

How wonderful you are getting to treat yourself to a weekend getaway and a concert ! I've never gone away on a trip by myself - but if the kids were grown and I knew Hubby would be taken care of, then I just might. But knowing me it wouldn't be for too long . Enjoy your trip!!

Oh yes, I always would go on my way, if my husband wouldn't want to go. My enjoyment isn't dependent on his coming with me anyway.
That is why too on Saturdays when I will be visiting my parents, I don't ask him to come with me anymore, because usually, he would like to go home after lunch already. I like to stay with my parents until 5:00 in the afternoon and have snacks with them still.

@ridingbet The plus about that is that it's nice to be loved, but I should imagine it could get a bit suffocating.

@jaboUK i accept that i can no longer travel alone because they get worried, even when i am late coming home from work, my sister has the wildest thoughts about where i am.
