Working Abroad

It seems that a lot of people from our country (Philippines), are opting to work abroad. It will mean that they will be away from their family and friends but they still choose to do that. The reason is simple. Employers abroad pay way more than if they will work from here. They can provide a better life for their kids than to stay with them. It's a sad truth that parents have to leave their children in exchange of money. How about you? Are you willing to leave your family to work abroad?

@cherriefic As we worked together, we moved together. My husband would have not moved alone leaving me in Italy. In my native city in Italy there is a large Filipino community, more than 45,000 people live there.

My father worked abroad and because of that I would never do the same, since my husband and I plan on having children I cannot sacrifice my time and influence in their development for higher salary...

Same as with me. My Mom went to work abroad when I was a child. Now that I have kids, I don't want to do the same. Unless if I can bring them along.

I left the Philippines because when I first got married, my husband is from the US. Unfortunately, that marriage did not last after a couple of years. I have a life here now - work, school, friends, a new family and love. I do miss my family in the Philippines and hopefully next year when I have more vacation days, I will visit them. I have not seen them in five years!

Yeah. I guess that's why most of the Pinoys chose that route.

@cherriefic Cher, some people have no choice. They have to work and have to feed their family.

@Hannihar You're right. It's very unfortunate but they have to do what they have to do.

It depends on. If the life is so hard and therefore one shall go abroad to work and support his family. If not, I still think it is better to stay with the family. It is hard to imagine one has to leave home for very long time and work alone. It is a miserable thing for him and his family.

Fortunately, my husband and I earned a very good living in our won country. I could never have left my children or husband without them living in the same house. I have noticed that practice in your country. I hope it's worth it.
