Nov 14- What's the difference between a Resume and a CV ??

I was hunting for some jobs online for the past few days. Real job with real money in hand. Guess what, all the job positions required a RESUME instead of a CV. However, my teenager told mme to send my CV because she got her job with a CV. CV stands for Curriculum Vitae, a full detail of personal details, working experiences, educations and work objective. It takes 2 pages long to type this out! A Resume is a brief version of the CV, one page long and lack of further information. Honestly, I had seen the samples of Resume , really brief and comfortable to read. I had sent out my CV as per my teen advice but got rejected. Should I send my Resume instead ? How would the employer know me through a not so detail Resume? Wouldn't a CV be sufficient? Any advice?

I think both are same. They may have rejected your cv as they may not have find you suitable for the job .

thanks, I believed so too because I think most employers do not want a 40+ year old employee right?

I usually would just submit my resume. CV is a lot to read for the HRD, so they require resume only. They will just ask some questions about you in the interview, They take note of what you have to say. And if they like you, they will have their background investigation.

a resume can be like the bio data. i have my curriculum vitae but it is not the usual 2 page thingy. it is just in one long bond paper.

I think the employers prefer a CV.

So its like the curriculum vitae is the novel and the resume is the short story of it.

A resume is a brief summary of your skills and experience and is usually one to two pages long while a CV is more detailed and can have more pages.

I think CV is better since you can sell yourself well in that

Sending CV is always a best option. If they have the suitable job for you they will definitely get back or else you always have other options

I've never sent a CV for a job, but a resume is basically the same thing. A list of job experience, from previous employment.

I thought they are the same. Anyway i think they expect summarise your details. I know of some companies where they do not have all the time to read a long cv and hence dailed resume.

Maybe the employer was not really convinced with your CV. Or, wasn't really able to read everything on it. Why not try another luck by just sending your resume instead? It will be a shorter version and more convenient to read. Good luck!
