One of the most intriguing armchair treasure histories is the golden owl. A man whose nickname is Max Valentin a French puzzle designer developed a puzzle and spread 11 hints each one with a title, text, and illustration, all the illustrations were designed by Michel Becker. Many treasure hunters are still looking for the golden owl, the golden owl is buried for 7,876 days, the puzzle was created in 1993 and the creator died from a car crash in 2009. Max Valentin stipulated that the clue should be solved within 8 to 14 hours but most treasure hunters found the game very hard and started sending letters to Max Valentin and he delivered more clues over the years. Max Valentin once said a doctor come very close to the prize and dug a hole very close to the original owl location, Max said digging into non-public places is forbidden and the owl is located in public places. He made this rule because people would trespass non-public places trying to locate the owl. Max Valentin went back to the owl’s location to make sure the owl was still there. The original owl wasn’t buried in France, what Max Valentin hide to be found was a bronze copy of the original owl and the bronze owl once found could be exchanged for the owl made of gold. A French bailiff named Master Llouquet was responsible for the original gold owl and he died in 2006 giving the responsibility to his successor.
