Favorite "Dream" Songs #8 - "Dreams Never End"

I seem to be on an 80's kick with this particular music countdown, which is songs with "dream" in the title. And while not every tune in this series is from that decade, #8 is: "Dreams Never End" by New Order.
"Dreams Never End" is the opening track on the 1981 album, Movement, New Order's debut record. It was released a year after the final Joy Division album, Closer, was released (for the uninitiated, New Order members, vocalist/guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook, and drummer Stephen Morris were in Joy Division. That band effectively ended when vocalist Ian Curtis hung himself.)
"Dreams Never End" was not released as a single. This is not a surprise, however. New Order did not include a single on an album until "The Perfect Kiss," from their 1985 album, Low-Life.
While New Order is best known as a highly influential 80's electronic dance band (Morris' wife, Gillian Gilbert, is the band's keyboardist,) they also had a rock side as well. "Dreams Never End" effectively straddles the line between Joy Division's dark, bleak post punk and New Order's alternative guitar rock.
Oddly, even though Bernard Sumner had assumed vocal duties, Peter Hook performed vocals on "Dreams Never End." It's not a stretch to say that Hook's vocals sounded eerily close to Curtis on the record. However, I've linked to a live performance from 1981, and Hook sounds absolutely nothing like Curtis on this.
Enjoy!

@teamfreak16 (Whispers) I thought it was a country and western song but I can't find it. I must be on the wrong track altogether.

If you want to check out New Order, I highly recommend starting with "Blue Monday," which is the biggest selling 12 inch single in history.

Yes, that's definitely not later-era New Order. BTW, what are you doing with a New Order and a Siouxsie song on the same day?

Unless you've listened to the album, odds are you haven't heard it.
