How often do you miss class or work just because you really really don't feel like going? I try not to do it more than three times (or two, actually, just in case I need to actually be absent some day). So by the time there are like 2 weeks left, if I haven't been absent at all I'm like "Ehhhh I'm allowed just this once." It's horrible, I know. e-e

i know the feeling, i used to also skip class because i don't feel like it. but where did i go while skipping class?? home.. while the other kids go anywhere they want, i'd rather be home, so that if anything unusual happens from my campus, i could just say that i'm at home and they can talk to my mom. (hiding behind the shadows of your mom..lol)

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I taught the last 3 years without missing a single day. My first year there I was sick constantly with allergies, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchitis again, allergies again... After that I still had the allergies, but I learned to live with them. I hated being gone because subs either didn't do the lessons I'd planned which messed up my plan book schedule or else they let the kids trash the room and left it for me to clean up. It was just easier being there every day. Of course, I've never been one to miss work, anyway. I was brought up by parents who never missed work.

That's a great accomplishment! I promise I won't do this when I'm doing the teaching, but some of the classes I have are pointless. I'll never ever miss a Japanese class because I actually learn there, but the others are pretty much common sense classes and makes me feel like NYU is babying us. "You have to keep in mind the students' experiences!" Fine. Okay. Say it once, we discuss it, I've got it. ...We've been discussing Dewey for 2 months straight now. :/

I've never been big on "playing hooky" from school or work. But, I can't say that I've never done it. Sometimes, you just need a personal day to recoup from the stresses of everyday life. Fortunately for me, I enjoyed school and I love my work so going to either one was never something I had to convince myself to do.
