The Ice Princess Broke her Heel!!!!

I'm sick over this! My son and daughter-in-law didn't want to worry me, so they kept the fact that my granddaughter broke her heel during off-ice practice.
I only found our last night when I asked when tickets would go on sale for her Off Broadway performance. My son told me that she may or may not be in the show. She will see her doctor on Friday, and my son will call me over the weekend.
I know how much she was looking forward to being on stage. She was given her first script ever, and was to have three speaking, dancing, singing, and costume changes with some of the children who already perform in shows on Broadway.
By the way, her figure skating coaches are beside themselves. So are we.

Oh no I am so sorry to read this. It is heartbreaking! I know she was looking forward to it as well as all of you were. I do hope that she has a speedy and complete recovery from her injury. So sad.

@Happy2BeMe I agree, but they know how much I worry. Still, no reason to keep it from us.

@DianneN That wasn't a good thing to do. You deserved to know when it happened. They should never have hid it from you.

That is shocking and unfortunate. But the little ones heal quickly.Let us hope she will recover soon.
It is quite disappointing, especially for the ice princess.

How terrible. I will put in a prayer for her and hope that she heals fast and that everything will be OK. Have to admit it is one of the dangers of ice skating - breaking something. Hope she is up and out on the ice soon. How did she break her heel? I bone in it? I was just thinking about heel and wondered.

Oh no! I'm so sorry - that must really be uncomfortable and throw a wrench into her plans for performing/skating.
One good thing, if there is a good thing - it seems like sometimes kids heal faster.... so I will wish her a speedy recovery

So sorry to hear this. I know everyone is disappointed. I hope that the experience does not have a negative effect and that she does not give up skating. My little cousin was into gymnastics and broke her ankle twice. After that, she gave up the gymnastic dreams.

@DianneN I am glad to hear that she is dedicated. I am not sure how dedicated my cousin was but I think she had weak ankles, to begin with.

@Shellyann36 My granddaughter has been competing since she was 3 years old and is 9 now. She loves figure skating and has been so dedicated. She was chosen to represent the state of New York in Michigan last summer and has been invited to Regionals. Next would be Sectionals, Nationals, and then Olympics.

Oh, that is horrible news, I hope that there are no lasting issues from the break, she is such an active kid.

I'll bet that is extremely painful @DianneN . It may take that awhile to heal; darn it.

@DianneN I have a feeling she'll be doing the 'tip-toe' move for awhile BUT, because she is so young, the heel should heal quicker. They may put her on some Vitamin D3 and calcium pills.

It is very sad and devastated we are, but I'll wait for more information this weekend after her doctor visit. I heard broken heels happen to athletes, falling from ladders, and car accidents. I really shouldn't look at the internet. I hope she doesn't need surgery.
