Has parenting techniques changed?

Our parents are the one to hold us when no one dares to held our hand but the time has changed. Now the parents let the child go through difficult times to understand the worth and importance of it. Do you guys think that parenting has changed over time?

@MALUSE not at all. I am just asking about the change of perceptions and ideologies of parents now a days which in certain context can be right :)
